Unlocking Tropical Resources: Building a Low-Cost, High-Performance, and Sustainable Bio-based Plastics Ecosystem
In recent years, Asian governments have been actively promoting green economy policies. For example, Thailand’s "Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG Economy)" strategy has identified bio-based materials as a key industry for development; while countries like Vietnam and Malaysia are also ramping up R&D and investment in bio-based materials. At the same time, the rapid growth in global demand for eco-friendly materials has created significant opportunities for Asia’s bio-based plastics industry chain—from raw material cultivation to end-product manufacturing.
However, the large-scale development of bio-based plastics still faces challenges such as technological bottlenecks, cost competitiveness, and inconsistent policies and standards. The industry urgently needs to strengthen international cooperation to drive technological innovation, optimize supply chains, and establish robust standards and certification systems.
This summit aims to bring together global industry leaders, research experts, policymakers, and investment institutions to jointly explore technological breakthroughs, market trends, policy support, and commercialization pathways for bio-based plastics in Asia. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and case studies, the summit will provide participants with in-depth insights and collaboration opportunities, accelerating the region’s transition toward a low-carbon circular economy and contributing to global sustainable development goals.
